Hyundai Performance Institute (HPI) is Hyundai Motor America’s learning and support function for dealership Sales personnel. It is comprised of a mobile learning application (the HPI App) and a companion website (the HPI Website) containing resources and reporting.
Dealer Sales Training provides required learning for Sales Managers (SM) and Sales Consultants (SP) and recommended training to Business Development roles (BD/BM/IM) related to Brand, Products and Customer Experience. Beginning in July 2025, recommended learning will be made available Dealer Principals (DP) and General Managers (GM).
Access to the website is by invitation only. Please contact your manager or send an email to Support providing your name, Hyundai department or dealership information, email, phone number and reason for requiring site access. Once approved, you will receive a personalized email providing a registration link and instructions.
Access to the HPI App is by invitation only. HPI App access is granted automatically Monday – Friday to Hyundai dealership Sales department personnel participating in STAR Rewards. Other dealership Sales department personnel, HMA HQ and Region employees are enrolled weekly. If you believe you should have access, please send an email to Support providing your name, Hyundai department or dealership information, email, phone number and reason for requiring site access. Once approved, you will receive a personalized email providing a registration link and instructions.
Once a person is entered into WebDCS Admin > Dealer User Management with SM or SP as their primary job code (or their primary job code is updated to SM or SP), it typically takes one to two business days for their information to transmit and for a welcome email to be sent. The email is sent to employee’s email address as entered on the Contact Information screen and contains information and links for registering and accessing both the website and app. Emails are personalized and are not to be shared. Please be sure that the email address is known to and accessible by the New Hire.
For dealership personnel, the ID begins with either HMA or DLR. For Hyundai Motor America HQ/regional employees, the ID begins with 101. For job codes that are not part of STAR Rewards, HPI App access requests are processed weekly. If you need additional help, please email or call Support. If your job code is other than SM or SP, please allow up to seven (7) days before escalating your access issue.
The link is active for seven (7) days. If it has been longer than seven days, please log into the HPI Website and select Get the App from the menu. A new “magic link” will be sent to the mobile number entered during the HPI App registration process.
The HPI Website provides authorized users with access to a wide variety of reference materials covering the Hyundai brand, vehicles, technology, and retail experience. In addition, for individual learners, the site provides a personal dashboard of activity and for those in management roles, the site provides access to roll-up dashboards and reports by dealership, district and region.
If your role is authorized, you will see the Reports option in the left-side navigation menu or on the Home page. Dealership Sales Managers (SM) have access to see reports for all Sales Consultants in their dealership; General Managers (GM) and Dealer Principals (DP) have access to see reports for all dealership Sales personnel. If you believe you should have access and do not, please email or call Support.
Dashboard access is based on role. All app users are provided a member dashboard detailing personal app activity and status. Roll-up dashboards are provided to Sales Managers and above summarizing the activity and status of those teams, dealerships, etc. within their purview. If you are an HPI App user and/or your role is authorized, you will see the “Dashboard” option in the left-side navigation menu or on the Home page. If you believe you should have access and do not, please email or call Support.
Please use your mobile phone number and the email address as listed in WebDCS so that are sure to receive Hyundai communications related to Dealer Sales Training and STAR Qualification.
Once you are in the app, you will be greeted with a welcome video and a brief, guided tutorial on how to use the platform, including selecting a social style and avatar. After that, you can explore and discover at your leisure!
The HPI App can be used on a dedicated Android tablet or Apple iPad (i.e., used by only one person), or a shared Apple iPad (e.g., one that is owned by the dealership). Once you have registered your phone number and set your password, please send an email to Support to request tablet access. Please provide your HMA/DLR ID, dealer code or dealership name, your full name, your email address, and specify whether you want to use a dedicated Android tablet or Apple iPad, or a shared device provided by the dealership.
Yes, the HPI App can be used on a dedicated Android tablet or Apple iPad (i.e., used by only one person), or a shared Apple iPad (e.g., one that is owned by the dealership). At this time, the HPI App can only be used on one device, and you cannot freely switch between devices. To install the app on a tablet, you must be able to access your email account on the tablet. In the case of a shared iPad, the owner/administrator of the tablet must be available to install the app.
No, the HPI App is not web compatible. HMA has opted to use app-based technology for learning to allow the content to be personalized and customized in the future to individual learner needs.
As of July 2025, most Sales department job codes have access to the app and are being offered recommended learning. For the Regions, the RCEM, RSM, RSOM, and DSM are automatically enrolled. All other roles are at request.
Email or call Support with your HMA/dealer ID, email and phone number to receive a download link to your new device.
The HPI App is supported by real humans called Community Managers. They all have automotive retail experience and are available to help you make the most of your HPI App experience.
The STAR Rewards program requires Sales Managers (SM) and Sales Consultants (SP) to complete training activities regularly. Currently, it is a change in terminology only. Hyundai has adopted the term Qualified/Qualification to reflect the on-time completion of required learning.
If you are assigned a primary job code that is associated with STAR Rewards, complete all required learning activities due within each month on-time.
Hyundai regularly releases learning activities grouped in cards. Required learning has a due date. It is your responsibility to monitor assignments and due dates in the HPI App or on the HPI Website and to complete all assignments on time (i.e., on or before 11:59 PM Pacific time on the published due date).
The STAR Qualification period begins on the first day of each sales month and ends at 11:59 PM Pacific Standard time on the sales close date. All required learning activities due within a given month must be completed on time to be deemed STAR Qualified for that month.
A New Hire receives a 30-day grace to complete all assigned activities. The 30-day grace is defined as the full month immediately following the month in which they were hired. Upon receiving access to the HPI App, New Hires are assigned a New Hire learning journey plus any learning assignments due within their hire month. At the start of their second calendar month, new hires are assigned the learning assignments for that month. New Hires must complete the New Hire learning journey and all other assigned learning by the published due dates. At the start of their third month, new hires fall into the ongoing cadence of monthly qualification. For example, if your hire date is 6/15/2025, you will be assigned the New Hire learning journey + June assignments + (at the start of July) July assignments; have until the end of July to complete all assignments.
At the top of the HPI App Home page is the Today section displaying the most important cards to be completed when you login. Below the Newsfeed is a What’s Next section displaying all assigned cards either in progress or not started in priority order. You can see all assigned cards by status (complete, incomplete) on the HPI website Dashboard (each member has a personal dashboard). Beginning in mid-July 2025, you will also find all your assigned cards in the HPI App, under Profile in the My Cards section.
You can check in the HPI App by clicking on the “STAR Qualification Status” link at the bottom of the Home screen or you can log into the HPI Website and check the Dashboard. In the app you will simply see a percentage completion status for the current month and the last two months. On the website you will see activity details.
While you can complete the activities, you are not considered STAR Qualified for that month and it may have an impact on your STAR Rewards status.
Each month is evaluated individually. Each month you do not complete your activities on time, you are not considered STAR Qualified for that month and this may impact your STAR Rewards status.
Once the job code change is processed, HPI Website access and HPI App assignments will be updated. Any cards that have been started or completed will be retained; any cards that have not been started will be removed. At the end of the month in which the change was made, the person’s records will be excluded from reporting for STAR Qualification and Brand Ambassador. NOTE: frequent changes between job codes that ARE and ARE NOT associated with the STAR Rewards and Brand Ambassador program may be questioned for potential interference and fraud.
In the Vehicles section, each model year / model combination dating back four model years is a self-contained module of information and supporting documents. This allows you to easily access everything associated with a single year and model in one place. The Library Products & Technology section contains more recent individual assets relative to select models and cross-platform technologies for quick searching, favoriting, and pinning.
The Library contains the same content and anything that you favorite or pin in one carries over to the other. The Vehicles section is only available on the HPI Web.
You can check in the HPI App by clicking on the “STAR Qualification Status” link at the bottom of the Home screen or you can log into the HPI Website and check your Dashboard. In the HPI App you will simply see a percentage completion status for the current month and the last two months. On the HPI Website Dashboard you will see all activity details.
The HPI Website Dashboard includes a list of all assigned cards, their due date, completion status, and a date/timestamp of last activity. Managers can drill down from their dashboard into individual dashboards.
Managers can see qualification status via Reports or Dashboard functions on the HPI Website. Dashboards can be saved as a PDF and Reports can be downloaded.
Engagement survey results are available on the HPI website. Default access is based on 1) the person being the Dealer Principal of record (DSSA signatory), 2) the person having an HMA ID (requires entry in WebDCS Dealer User Management, and 3) the person’s primary job code be set to DP (Dealer Principal). Dealer Principals may request access for other or additional dealership or dealer group personnel by sending an email to support providing the HMA IDs and names of those to whom access is to be granted. Hyundai Region General Managers (RGMs) may submit these requests on behalf of the DP.
Hyundai National and Regional personnel can view aggregated results at the National and Regional level; results are not aggregated at the District level. Dealership-level results are only visible to the Dealer Principal and persons they authorize. All verbatim comments are anonymized and roll-ups with less than four respondents are not published.
